Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.)

Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) is a two-year diploma course in pharmacy. It is a short-term course which fulfills the minimum qualification to be a registered pharmacist. It deals with various properties of drugs, their synthesis, formulation, uses, etc. A pharmacist is involved in compounding, checking prescriptions, dispensing drugs, counseling patients, and maintaining drug store inventory (at hospitals, clinics, or drug stores). After successful completion of this course, candidates can serve in society as pharmacists, patient counselors, and in marketing, etc.


Eligibility

Maharashtra state candidature candidates

  1. The candidate should be an Indian National.
  2. Passed the HSC with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects: Mathematics or Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  3. OR
  4. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to the above examination.
Note:
  1. Other than Maharashtra State Candidates shall be eligible for Institution quota only.
  2. In case the result of the candidate is given in terms of grades, such candidates are required to submit the graded result converted into equivalent marks authorized by the concerned Institute/Board.The eligibility shall be decided based on equivalent marks.

After finishing the D Pharm, if any candidate wants to study further, here are two viable options he or she can choose from:

  1. If pharmaceutical studies are your calling and passion, you can pursue a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. If you have already completed D Pharm, you may apply for the second year of B Pharm. Following that, you can pursue postgraduate degrees.
  2. After completing your D Pharm, you might consider pursuing a law degree. IPR (intellectual property) lawyers are hired by many pharmaceutical businesses.
